I’m planning to move along with my infant. Can I put a car seat in a moving truck?

Everyone knows that most of the truck rentals aren’t equipped with back seats. Due to the lack of rear seating, many people do not consider renting a moving truck to be the safest option to transport with their infants and babies. However, rental companies provide airbags and seat belts to keep them safe (which may not satisfy the requirements for car seats).

Since the truck rental companies do not offer safety seats for infants, they will allow you to put a car seat into the truck. But few states have some laws about car seat requirements. Here are what some states require:

  • Arkansas law states that children who are 5 years and below weighing less than 60 pounds must be restrained in the appropriate seat.
  • Georgia requires kids below 8 years can ride in the rear seat if applicable
  • Tennessee recommends a car seat for all children between 9 and 12 years old.

Although some states allow parents to place their children in a rear-facing seat in the vehicle, it is not recommended and is illegal to put a childs car seat in the vehicle if the airbags cannot be turned off. So, when youre relocating along with your baby, make sure to follow car safety guidelines to have a smooth move.
