Fake positive reviews, read Yelp and ...

This company uses predatory practices, lies and extortion. Nate told me on phone it would take about 5-7 days to move me from IL to TX, despite the fact that in the estimate its 7-21 days, then told me on the phone again on a separate day that its standard disclaimer and a maximum and it can only happen if the truck breaks down or its winter time. They gave me an estimate of $ 1275, when they arrived they immediately started loading my stuff on the truck, then presented me with a new bill for $ 2025 and bunch of new paperwork to sign- a break down sheet of their additional charges they never disclosed in the estimate- like $ 22 wrapping fees per item, $ 16 material charge per cellophane wrap, $ 10 packing, $ 10 unpacking fees, etc, all of which amounted to over $ 300 extra charges on my bill. They also claimed I had a lot more boxes than stated, even though I removed a large wall unit from the original list. The way they increase number of items is simply by disassembling them- a queen size bed with a topper listed as one item turned into a three separate items(mattress, topper, spring box), thus requiring 3 separate wrapping material and services, as well as increasing the number of items on the list.I asked multiple times to give me a detailed description Why the final volume was 550 cubic feet, not 416 as on the estimate, the supervisor just smirked and said- : Because it is what it is". The whole process was very degrading, they were rude and one of them smelled of alcohol. Its been 2 weeks since they picked up my stuff, Ive been sleeping on the floor in my new house in Houston, I have a home based business that I cant operate without my belongings and furniture. They still havent given me any concrete dates of delivery, all I hear every day is "we dont have a driver yet". According to their policy, they give you one month free storage and then start charging you per day per cubic foot, which is another trick they use to scam consumers out of money and prolong the time people have to live without their belongings. Even the 7 to 21 day estimated delivery is not a guarantee which means they can hold your belongings indefinitely meanwhile charging you for storage. The way they set their operations up is an intricate trap-and- scam and you have to be a lawyer to fight it. If you look on their BBB profile or Yelp reviews, you will wonder how this company is still legally in the business, because they scam people at every corner of the moving process,. All reviews are the same - 1 star out of 5, same complaints about lies, hiding behind fine print, numerous extra charges that were never disclosed until people belongings are already on the truck, people stuck with bills that are 100% more than the estimates, people literally crying from desperation after weeks of delays with shipment, with no solution on the horizon, living like homeless persons.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a company in my life. The company initially gave me a quote which seemed competitive to move my belongings (one bedroom of belongings) from Chicago to NYC. We also only saw the google reviews and unfortunately had not already read the yelp reviews and only google so the company seemed decent. The movers came on time and everything seemed fine at first but once they moved all of my stuff into the truck they told me the total cost would be $250 more than they had originally quoted me due to a combination of extra “administrative fees” and “long carry fees” none of which was told me upfront. At this time I also paid an extra amount to cover the cost of the 3 flights at my new apt in NYC (they said first flight free and $75 for every additional flight after that- never specified the number of stairs that would make up a flight although a standard flight of stairs is 12 stairs). The company also told me my stuff would arrive in 5-10 days or sooner. I moved to NYC 3 days after this and received no communication whatsoever from the company on the progression of my things. When the weekend came around and it had been 7 days I still had heard nothing. I called the company to find that no one was aware of where my stuff was except for one person at the company named Danielle and she was out of office. Once Danielle was back in office I got a call letting me know there had been delays and my stuff was still sitting in Chicago 7 days after the move. This is where it progressively got worse. I tried calling multiple times over a three day span when each time Travis (who was incredibly rude and disrespectful) told me they would call me back and they never did. After being told this 3 different times I called again and demanded they tell me where my stuff is and Travis kept repeating “well we’re just going to have to call you back”. When I protested multiple times that this was an unacceptable answer and since they are a moving company they should know where my stuff is Travis then hung up on me. Two days later I get a call from the driver that my stuff will be there the next day and that I have a $350 dollars balance due to “shuttle truck” being used. I called the company asking them to settle this with the driver because I was told in Chicago that I paid for 100% of my move and I would not be charged anything else when my things arrived in NYC. When the driver arrived the next day (this is now 14 days after they picked up my stuff in Chicago- 4 days after the max time they told me it would take) the company had never talked to him and he was still requesting $350. I had to call three different people at the company until someone was able to settle this and then they told me that I would not have to pay for the shuttle but I would have to pay $300 extra in cash because I had more stairs than three flights because flights are only 7 stairs (again a standard US flight of stairs is

Citywide movers made our move a pleasant experience. They worked quickly and efficiently. They were respectful, helpful and fun to deal with throughout the loading and unloading, even re-positioning a few pieces when they didn't seem to be in just the right spots. Moving is hard but, our Citywide movers team made it much easier than expected and well within the estimated cost.

Professional, patient, and thorough.

Excellent service by Citywide Movers! They did an initial assessment over the phone and although we had a lot more than originally thought, it wasn't a problem. The crew showed up right on time and were friendly, professional and as helpful as they could be. The move went off without a hitch, which is all one could ask for. Thanks very much guys!

bad shady company

Movers The worst shady movers. They will not take care of your personal property as evidenced by dragging my expensive cast aluminum patio table across the concrete driveway on its side and scratching the side. This citywide movers is now contracting the work out, using small contractors like Family Movers with old oil leaking trucks that will stain your driveway. They are mostly shady illegal immigrants that show up like Jonathan. Nick will quote you a low price, send you a quote stating no hidden fees. Once they have your furniture in their truck at your new place they already know the immigrant Jonathan will fumble with the immense paperwork for 45 minutes telling you how he is going to charge you $255 extra for a few feet of yellow tape and reused cardboard, even though the quote says there is no additional charges, and if you don’t pay it they will not release your personal property. if you choose to use this Citywide movers aka Family Movers, I highly suggest you park your car in front of their truck at your new place, then don’t move it until they move your property is inside and honor their written quote. Watch out for the Mexican immigrant Jonathan (not his real name) tough guy who will also collect your good pen as a Souvenir.

Very responsive, on time and professional. The movers were very careful with all of my belongings and were very fast. They wrapped all of my furniture in blankets, disassembled my furniture and put it back together safely . No damages or scratches were done. I would highly recommend them.

Great customer service!!

Very nice people from beginning to end. The movers (team of three) were great. They showed up on time, helped finish packing all of my stuff and did everything very quickly. This was the best moving experience I have had! I highly recommend them!

The crew were very professional from start to finish. Most moving companies would never be so courteous and flexible in their terms. They put a lot of trust in me with my requirements. The movers did a great job in wrapping and loading. They were patient and helpful. Bottom line is that they were trustworthy and experienced and their prices were extremely reasonable. I wish them continued success.

Had a wonderful experience!

The guys definitely know what they're doing. Everybody was incredibly nice and professional. Prompt, speedy, and careful with my belongings. It doesn't get better than this. Every furnishing and dish arrived complete and unscratched. It was impressive how well they worked together. They completed our move in less time then estimated. I highly recommend them.

From the pre move communications through the end of the move, we couldn't have been more impressed. Citywide movers crew were professional, efficient, honest and they seemed to really enjoy working with each other to boot! They did a fantastic job with my move and got everything done quickly and efficiently. I moved my stuff into a storage facility any they packed everything into the unit neatly. In fact, I was concerned that everything would not fit, but they made it fit perfectly with a little bit of room to spare. I highly recommend them and I will be using them again for my next move.

Great customer service!!

Citywide movers guys worked diligently to get our items packed, loaded, and unloaded. They made sure our items were put into the correct rooms too and not just putting the boxes wherever they pleased. These gentlemen were very hard working movers. They did not stop. I am extremely pleased by their work and will definitely recommend them to any of my friends. If I ever have to move again, they will be the first ones I call.

They gave me a horrible experience

Citywide they gave me a quote initially, which we agreed with. Then I was supposed to move on February 10th and on February 9th evening around 6 PM, they called me and told me they were going to increase the quote. So I told them that's very late and it's 6 PM Friday evening and the very next day morning I was scheduled to move. Then after that, they told me they have to increase the quote because they did not include the travel time.I told them 'you guys gave me the quote including the travel time now you're telling me that you're increasing the travel time so that's going to increase about 500-600 dollars?' and they said yes. At that point I had to cancel the entire move and at that point I was lucky enough to get a truck by myself, and load the stuff by myself on Saturday morning and move the entire thing by myself to Indianapolis.

The Citywide movers guys were fantastic and I'd recommend them to anyone moving. The company got back to me immediately when I emailed him for an estimate and they were able to help me move within a few days notice. Not only were the crew who moved me out of my apartment courteous and professional, but they were very kind! There was a mix up at my new apartment building regarding when I would be moving in and not only did the movers help relieve some of the pressure. Thanks guys!!

Amazing service!!

The movers that came to move my furniture, were prompt, professional, hardworking, and accommodating to the needs that were met. They made sure all of our furniture was wrapped with blankets on top of more blankets and plastic. I have all ready recommended them to a friend of ours getting ready for their move.

The moving team who picked up and delivered my items was extremely nice and professional. The Citywide Movers team were nice, prompt. The rate was very reasonable for a move of that distance. I was notified beforehand when my things would be picked up and delivered and my schedule and availability was definitely considered. There was no hidden fees and all of my furniture was delivered without a scratch. I would definitely recommend Citywide Movers to friends and will be sure to use them again!

Moving out from my parents house was never easier! I called this company and a friendly and professional operator answered and talked me through it. The move was done efficient and fast. Smoothest Move Ever

We used Citywide for our last move and couldn't have asked for a better moving experience. They were extremely fast, organized, and professional. It honestly felt like four friends helping us move because they were so down to earth and nice. All of our things were very well taken care of. Their rates were very reasonable. Very grateful for their help and making our move so smooth!

Fantastic movers

Finally a moving company that got it right. I've moved 4 different locations in the past 11 years and out of all of the moves this has been the only company that moved me without any scratches to my furniture and delivered everything without losing a single item. They did a great job, from the very beginning when I spoke with them on the phone, until I waved good bye to the driver, I am very satisfied.

The gentlemen at Citywide recently relocated my three bedroom from IL to FL. Unlike my experience with prior service providers, Citywide delivered and did not take advantage of my desperation for moving help. I phoned these guys about three days prior to needing to be out of my IL address. Sure enough they were there on the move date as promised with a more than capable operation. The move went smooth and the price was less than anticipated. Glad I chose Citywide Movers.
