While the standard length of notice to give your employer when leaving a job is two weeks, it can vary from company to company. If you and your employer have a contract agreement about the length of notice required, be sure to give at least that amount.
If you are not moving long-distance and will still be able to keep your job, notify your employer as soon as possible so you can discuss requesting time off from work to move. Depending on the job, you may also be able to transfer to another office and continue working for the company. In this case, discuss the details of your move with your employer as soon as possible to make arrangements for your job relocation.
Also: make sure to tell your employer about your plans prior to notifying your co-workers. You want your boss to hear the news form you, rather than overhear it at the water cooler. You want to keep a good rapport with your employer so you can use them as a reference for future employment opportunities.
