We currently live in Connecticut. We will be overseas for several years. Are regional storage cost variations large enough that we should consider having our stuff (contents of 4 bedroom house) trucked to a cheeper storage location? (We have family in north Carolina and will have a U.S. mailing address in Florida while we are abroad )

Hello, and thank you for visiting Movers.com!

Storage costs do vary--usually depending on occupancy. Storage facilities with less vacant units will charge higher premiums than facilities with lower occupancy. By that logic, less populated regions will probably offer lower monthly storage costs.

The best way to find out the cheapest option for your needs is to start comparing storage costs. You can fill out a quick and easy quote form on Movers.com to be connected with storage companies in various locations, allowing you to comparison shop. You can then compare your savings to the cost of shipping your belongings by comparing quotes from moving companies.
