DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY
You won't get far with your relocation to Taiwan if you lack the proper documentation to clear customs and begin living abroad.
These

When moving to Taiwan, you will need:
- Passport (original and copies for each family member)
- Birth certificate for each child moving abroad (if applicable)
- Copy of marriage license (if applicable)

- Detailed inventory (copy)

- Pornographic material
- Gambling tools
- Food, trees, plants, soil and vegetables
- Uncooked meat and poultry
- All items from the People's Republic of China (P.R.C)
RESTRICTED ITEMS
When shipping your household goods and personal effects to Taiwan, you should also be aware of the numerous items that are subject to duty fees, need special permission, or have limits on quantity. Some of these items include, but may not be limited to:
- Tobacco products (requires import permit)
- Currency and gold bullion (require import permit)
- Wine (subject to high taxes and duties)
- New items and appliances (these items should be repacked to avoid duties or reduce them)
- Electrical items (limit one of each type per family - TVs, personal computers, stereos, etc.)
- Animal fur, skin or ivory or any endangered species (owner must obtain city approval from origin country before sending to Taiwan)
MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS
If you're considering taking your vehicle with you to Taiwan, you have to ensure you have the proper documents, and pay any duties or taxes that apply. You should be aware that automobiles under a year old and over 10 years old are prohibited for importation, and only one vehicle is allowed per customer.
If youplan on shipping your vehicle, you will need:
- Owner's passport
- Owner's residence visa
- Purchase invoice
- Work certificate
- Owner's driver's license
- Vehicle registration/title
- Letter from owner's employer
- Description of vehicle - make, model, year, color, engine number, air conditioned, radio, right/left hand drive, etc.
- Import permit
PETS AND ANIMAL REGULATIONS
If you own a pet, you probably wouldn't want to leave it behind when you move to Taiwan. Be advised that all pets must undergo required quarantine, and after that time, the pet must be under the owner's supervision on his/her premises for six months.
To be sure your animal companion makes it through customs without any trouble, you will need:
- Import permit
- Work certificate
- Copy of owner's passport with first three pages (and entry form)
- Residence certificate (copy)
- Application form to the Bureau of Commodity Inspection and Quarantine
- Health certificate (original, certified by a foreign veterinarian and Agricultural Bureau of State)
- Must state pet species, breed, sex and age
- Rabies vaccination certificate (original - must be administered prior to travel, but no more than 180 days prior to departure)
- Must be certified by Agricultural Bureau of State
- Six photos of the pet (in color, 4 x 6, of front and profile views)
