Don't do it...
We hired Trinity Van Lines to pack, load and unload our belongings in a move from Dallas Texas to Seattle Washington. After getting quotes from several moving companies, we were impressed with 3 things: 1: Their quote: Even though the final quote was $2000 higher than the initial quote, it was still several thousand dollars cheaper than the quotes we received from professional moving companies. 2: Their follow-up: They followed up relentlessly, answered our questions, and seemed to want the opportunity. 3: Their willingness to work with our schedule: We needed to be packed the day after Christmas and unload on New Years Eve. They agreed to do so with no issues. The problems began on the day of the move. There were a number of issues: First, they showed up over 2 hours late. This was a problem since we had a very tight schedule and had to drive over 700 miles the next day. Second, they did not bring enough help. Even with my wife and I working (packing and loading), the movers did not leave till after 1am the next morning. Third, they did not bring many of the materials they promised (i.e. charged us for). Instead of the rolls of bubble wrap, they brought dirty newspaper that was scattered on the floor in the back of the truck, they brought 0 wardrobe boxes, and they did not bring nearly the number of boxes or blankets that they listed on our quote. This meant that they were either using our boxes and wrapping materials (we have moved 8 times in the last 15 years) or wasting time by running back and forth to home depot. Fourth, even with the numerous trips, they still did not have enough materials, and many of our belongings were not wrapped at all or were carelessly wrapped to get by (my suits and my wifes wedding dress were wrapped in a trash bag). Fifth, the afternoon of the move, the guy in charge informed me that they would not be able to get to Seattle until the 1st. This was a problem since our reservations were made (we were driving our dogs to Seattle), our clothes were packed, and we now had to pay for an additional hotel. This was a problem, but at that point, you just push forward. Sixth, instead of bringing the trailer (as quoted), they brought a second moving van. This was a MAJOR problem as it meant that the goods would be off loaded somewhere else, then reloaded on a trailer. This is one of the biggest issues I experienced with this company. I was very clear that I did not want our goods loaded with anyone else's goods...and this was even worse....again, there was no time to rework this...we just had to push forward. We arrived at the new house 15 mins before our 10am unload time. The day before we got numerous calls and texts asking us to move up the start time as they were pressed for time.....the answer was no, we had already booked the hotel, we had 150 miles to drive the morning of the unload, and
