Moving to Oregon?

Oregon is a coastal state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. From forests and deserts to volcanoes and glaciated Cascades on the windswept Pacific coast line, Oregon's landscape is diverse and varied. Crystal Lake, formed on the remains of a volcano, is the deepest lake in the U.S. and is famous all over the world for its crystal-blue waters.

Oregon is known by its nickname, the “Beaver State.” It originated in the early 19th century when Oregon's streams were a prime source of beaver pelts. The name Ouragon was used in the petition of Major Robert Rogers to the Kingdom of Great Britain. Some say the name Ouragon is a French word meaning hurricane or windstorm.

Native Americans like the Chasta, Chinook, and Nez Perce have inhabited the state long before the arrival of the Europeans. The Natives welcomed the Europeans for trading opportunities, but they brought with them diseases that proved detrimental to the Natives.
